The Bachelor gets pipped by a different type of couple

Over 700,000 people tuned in to watch channel Seven's documentary, The World's Oddest Animal Couples, with the show beating Channel Ten's couple show, The Bachelor.

According to preliminary overnight numbers for the metro areas from OzTam, The World's Oddest Animal Couples drew an audience of 765,000, putting the show in seventh spot. The Bachelor just made the top 10 with an audience of 661,000, which is slightly down from the previous week.

Nine News topped the night and was the only show to crack the million mark, gaining an audience of 1,013 million.

Seven's Home and Away was the only non-news show to make the top five, drawing in an audience of 882,000.

Nine took the highest total share of TV audiences last night with 32.9% of viewers tuning in to the network. Seven sat at 27.1%, Ten at 17.4% and the ABC held 16.7% of viewers.
