Ten is hitting pause on two of its shows The Bachelor in Paradise and Dancing with the Stars.
The network revealed its content lineup for 2021 at yesterday’s upfronts, which included favourites such as The Bachelor. However, its spinoff show The Bachelor in Paradise was missing.
Ten has since confirmed the show will take a break next year and return in 2022.
“We love all the excitement, drama and of course love that Bachelor In Paradise brings, but we have decided to rest it in 2021. It will return in 2022,” a Ten spokesperson says.
This year’s season of the reality dating show wrapped up with less than 500,000 metro viewers. The finale aired in two parts, with The Final Decision hitting 480,000 metro viewers and the Grand Finale reaching 414,000 metro viewers, according to OzTam numbers.
The show has been experiencing a declining audience since last year when audience for the finale fell by more than 300,000 metro viewers compared to the year prior, wrapping up with 454,000 metro viewers overnight.
Ten also confirmed Dancing with the Stars won’t be returning “for the time being”.
“We have decided to hang up our dancing shoes, lycra pants and sequinned jackets for the time being,” a spokesperson says.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the show, in particular Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, who were fabulous hosts, as well as all the judges, dancers, the stars and of course the crew.”
The show had its finale this season brought forward due to the pandemic, attracting 635,000 metro viewers.
