SYDNEY: Chris Taylor, director of Telstra Media, is to join mobile media and payments group YuuZoo Corporation as chief executive.

Taylor's departure from Telstra, where he has worked since 2007, was revealed by AdNews on Friday.

Taylor has been appointed to help grow the business locally and will be based in Sydney following the decision to move the company's global head office from Singapore to Sydney.

YuuZoo is experiencing rapid growth helped by deals in fast-growing mobile markets such as Asia, Middle East and Africa. Mobile transaction revenues have already surpassed US $1 billion, according to YuuZoo executive chairman Thomas Zilliacus.

YuuZoo founder Ron Creevey said: "YuuZoo will be the first truly global new media company run out of Australia Together with Chris and the management team we are building around us here in Sydney, I am confident we will continue to expand our leadership position in key global markets."

Prior to Telstra, Taylor held senior management roles, in the free to air television industry, including an 11 year stint with PBL.

Taylor will assume the role on 1 October.
