New entrant in the sports streaming battle, Sports Flick, has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the Austrian Bundesliga football competition in Australia.

The announcement from the Sydney-based startup comes just days after it reportedly beat Optus to secure the UEFA Champions League tournament in a $60 million deal.

The latest multi-year deal for the Austrian Bundesliga kicks in with three rounds remaining for the 2020-21 season, and will go on to cover the Championship Round and the 2021-22 season.

“Sports Flick has a goal to become the number one location for football in Australia,” says Sports Flick general manager Michael Turner.

“With football being Australia’s number one grassroots participation sport, fans are craving more football content from across the world. One of our goals is to give fans the chance to watch different competitions and engage with the world’s game.”

Sports Flick also has the rights to the K-League, UAE Arabian Gulf League, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The platform has emerged as a competitor in the sports streaming battle against big players, such as Kayo, Stan Sports and Amazon.
