Journalist Patricia Karvelas will be the new presenter of ABC Radio National (RN) Drive, replacing Waleed Aly.
Karvelas is a prominent journalist with a career spanning 15 years. She has worked at The Australian newspaper since 2002, covering federal politics, and most recently worked as the Victorian bureau chief and senior national affairs journalist.
She has also worked as a fill-in presenter of 774 ABC Melbourne and has appeared on a number of television and radio programs on the ABC network.
Karvelas will take up her new role on 26 January, replacing Aly who joins The Project as a permanent host next year.
“RN is the network of ideas – and there are few people better placed in the Australian media than Patricia to take up the role of RN Drive presenter,” said ABC RN manager Deborah Leavitt.
“She brings to the role a strong track record in breaking stories, a highly-tuned analytical mind and an interest in indigenous affairs, as well as a natural curiosity about what matters most in the lives of Australians."
