OMD took home the coveted futsal trophy in the UnLtd Cup against a lineup of 24 teams.
The annual futsal tournament organised by UnLtd, the industry’s social purpose organisation, raised more than $55,000 for children at risk.
The event was held October 15-16 October at All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre in Alexandria.
The semi-finals saw REA beat Verizon Media 3-1 and OMD beat the UnLtd All Stars team in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. The final was a tight game that finally saw OMD score a 1-0 victory over REA.
Hattie Dinger from OMD: “It was a cracking day and the level of skill was very high. We’re of course delighted to be taking home the trophy but even happier about the amazing result that we’ve achieved together as an industry. A huge thanks to everyone involved.”
The profits of the event are donated to KidsXpress, a children’s mental health charity that uses expressive therapy to help children impacted by severe trauma.
Margo Ward, Founder & CEO of KidsXpress, says the mental health of our most vulnerable members of society are often over looked, the children.
"Three out of four children with mental health disorders aren’t accessing the care that they need and one reason for this is their family’s inability to pay for it," she says.
"The funds raised from UnLtd Cup will allow us to reach more children and provide much needed early intervention support before their mental health issues grow with them into adulthood and become harder to treat. With many of our signature fundraising events being impacted by COVID-19, there has never been a time where these funds have been more needed.”
The event was sponsored by Cartology and supported by oOh! Media and ARN and other participating companies included: ACM, DAN, GroupM, Hearts & Science, JCDecaux, Kaimera, Network 10, Nine, OMD, Omnicom, oOh! Media, Pedestrian, PHD, Publicis, QMS Media, REA Group, Seven West Media, Tik Tok, UnLtd All Stars, Val Morgan and Verizon Media.
Steve Geelan, Head of Product and Platform at Cartology: “What a tournament! It was fantastic to get the industry together again for a bit of fun and healthy competition whilst raising much-needed funds for children at risk. Cartology is proud to support the event and can’t wait to be back next year, hopefully with a trophy in hand next time!”
