Nine is ramping up investment in Stan Original series and films, with the broadcaster directing the focus of its own production capabilities towards accelerating production for the original content.
The streaming platform, owned by Nine, is set to produce more than 30 locally and internationally produced Stan Originals a year for the next five years.
Stan will work with state and national screen organisations for the development of the shows, which will also include investments and co-productions with international partners, including Hollywood studios and international networks to add to the reach of Stan Originals.
“Stan continues to experience significant growth, reaching a scale that is delivering strong positive cash flow,” says Stan CEO Mike Sneesby.
“As part of our strategy to bring the world's best content to Australians, we will shift greater investment into Stan Original productions through our local and international partnerships.
“This strategy is further bolstered by Nine’s production capabilities as we maximise the efficiency of our content investment across the group’s market leading television platforms.”
The new slate of content marks the platform’s biggest commitment to locally produced shows yet. Four shows are already in production including Dom and Adrian: 2020, an original comedy special from the creators of the Bondi Hipsters, Christiaan Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier.
