Nine Entertainment has lifted its advertising revenue for its Paris Olympic and Paralympic coverage to more than $140 million, up from the $130 million before the games started
CEO Mike Sneesby has congratulated staff as broadcast and 9Now coverage records 10.5 million average daily viewers in the first week of the games.
“We have always focused on making strategic investments that deliver profitable outcomes for our business, ensuring that we have a financially strong and sustainable platform for growth and continued investment in quality content and journalism,” he told staff in an email.
9Now, with 6 million viewers, gained the highest weekly BVOD reach since VOZ started in December 2021.
“The dedication and commitment of every Nine team member involved in preparing for the games and now covering the games for our audiences is inspiring,” Sneesby told staff in an email.
“We made a commitment to put our audiences and advertisers first with Olympics Games and Paralympic Games coverage of an unprecedented quality and scale and we are delivering on that promise.”
Sneesby said metro publications and the AFR have delivered outstanding coverage since the opening ceremony.
At Nine radio, round-the-clock coverage from Paris has garnered unprecedented positive listener feedback, with audio streaming audiences up more than 25% year on year," he said.
Stan Sport has also seen record viewing numbers and subscribers.
“These results show we are delivering for our loyal Australian audiences and our advertising partners like never before,” said Sneesby.
“Your united efforts and commitment have ensured that these games are delivering an important profitable contribution to our business this financial year, setting us on a fantastic path as we continue on our journey as Australia’s home of the Olympics through to Brisbane 2032.”
