Nine Entertainment has created a group function to "unify" marketing across the group and named Michael Branagh as director of marketing.

Peter Wiltshire, group sales and marketing director at Nine, said: “As the corporate footprint of NEC continues to grow, the need to unite our marketing efforts across our business has never been greater. In this newly created role, Michael will oversee consumer marketing for the group and look to maximise our marketing opportunities both externally and within our considerable internal media network.”

Branagh joined NEC in 2011 as director of Powered, NEC’s in-house strategic and creative team. Before NEC he was national managing director of digital agency SapientNitro.

Mi9 CEO Mark Britt, said: “In this new role we look forward to leveraging Michael’s strategic insight and expertise, and his understanding of our business, whether it’s television, digital or events, that he has developed over the past three years at Powered.”

Branagh added: “As NEC continues its evolution, the creation of the group marketing function will ensure we are leveraging every opportunity across our business and in market while engaging with our audiences and telling our brand stories. It’s an exciting time to be a part of NEC as we bring the collective power of our media arms closer together.”

Branagh’s appointment is effective immediately, he reports directly to Wiltshire.
