News Corp Australia is providing big businesses with $8 million in advertising to communicate critical information during the coronavirus pandemic.

The initiative gives full-page ads to leading companies across travel, airline, retail, banking, sport, utility and insurance sectors to share messaging to customers, staff and suppliers.

The ads will feature in print, online and in apps across the publisher’s brands.

Michael Miller, News Corp Australia executive chairman, says the initiative is to help counter misinformation during the crisis.

“Our leading companies will be able to show how they are helping manage this crisis and how it may personally impact the public and the customers they serve,” Miller says.

“This is a crisis that seems to respect no boundaries - it affects everybody - and it’s imperative we work together in a unified way to do what we can to help.”

News Corp Australia’s metro papers and The Australian have seen consumer demand surge by 48% in the past week as more people turn to news services during the pandemic.
