Rebel Wilson lawsuit
Rebel Wilson is delivering on her promise to sue Bauer Media following ‘defamatory stories’ published by Woman’s Day last year. The article in question revealed Wilson had lied about her age claiming she was 29 when she was actually 35. It also alleged she had used a fake name and had described a different upbringing in Australia. Wilson’s lawyer told the court on Friday that Wilson will give evidence the articles led to contracts being terminated and damaged her reputation. The trial will begin on May 22.
Kilt-wearing staffers cannot go commando
A special Domino’s tartan has been made into kilts for any employees at one of the brand's Scottish shops. To celebrate the opening of a new Glasgow location, the pizza brand hired local designer Ken MacDonald to create 'The Domino’s tartan', which has officially been added to the Scottish Register of Tartans. According to AdWeek, the kilt idea came from a poll of 100 Scottish Domino’s employees and 67% said they would gladly wear a kilt to work. Domino’s has made it clear that kilt-wearing staffers cannot go commando. Domino’s has also putt a limited-edition “Scots Favourite” Pizza Legend on the menu, based on the country’s favourite pizza toppings—chicken, ham, peppers, prosciutto ham and mushrooms.
BRW Rich List winner scoops historic Fairfax property
Founder at Sydney-headquartered enterprise software company Atlassian, Scott Farquhar, has bought the Fairfax family’s Point Piper estate. Ending a three-year sales campaign, the buy is thought to have set a national house price record of more than $70 million. According to Domain, built in 1863, the property has been home to one of the world’s longest-running media dynasties since Geoffrey Evan Fairfax bought it in 1891 for £2100. The sale brings an end to 126 years of continuous family ownership. The real estate company says Fairfax, who sold his remaining 9.7% stake in Fairfax Media for $189 million in 2011, announced his decision to sell the historic property in September 2013 as no one in the family had lived in it for nearly 20 years. Farquhar and the other Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon Brookes, topped the BRW Young Rich List last year with a combined wealth of $4.6 billion.
