National Australia Bank has appointed Sandra de Castro as chief marketing officer in a newly created role.
De Castro has been acting executive general manager of marketing since October last year. She is credited with overseeing the high profile 'break up' advertising campaign, which launched in February and promoted NAB as breaking away from the other three big banks.
In her new role, De Castro will lead the development and execution of NAB's strategic marketing plans and will be responsible for the direction and management of the marketing and promotion of products and services in personal, business and wholesale banking.
Group executive of corporate affairs and marketing, Andrew Hagger, said the appointment was a positive move for NAB. “Sandra is a high calibre executive with superb leadership abilities, and I am delighted to appoint her to this important role in our organisation,” he said.
De Castro has previously worked at Corporate Value Associates (CVA), working with financial services clients in retail and business banking, insurance, investments and payments across Europe.
