Movers & Shakers: Droga5, Magic, Trout Creative Thinking, Genero, Are Media

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out some of the biggest moves this week.

Mark Green moves to New York to run Droga5

Mark Green is leaving Sydney and his local role running Accenture Song for New York to be the global CEO of Droga5, the agency founded by another Australian, David Droga. His departure also means the disappearance of the name The Monkeys, the Australian creative shop originally called the Three Drunk Monkeys. Green and co-founders Scott Nowell and Justin Drape started The Monkeys in 2006 and sold to Accenture in 2017.

Magic appoints Edward McMutrie head of signal

Independent media agency Magic has appointed data analyst Edward McMutrie head of signal. McMutrie will be responsible for math and modelling disciplines across the agency, driving growth with data science, while activating modelling and analytics to drive ROI for clients. He will report to Magic CEO Shahram Ghaffurian. Prior to joining Magic, McMutrie was the data science chapter lead for ANZ. He also had a three-year stint at marketing agency, The Lumery, leading its data and analytics function.

+61's Wylie Fowler becomes Insignia Financial's GM Brand

Financial services company Insignia Financial has appointed Wylie Fowler general manager, brand strategy. Fowler will develop brand strategies across all of Insignia's brands. With more than 25 years’ experience, Fowler joins in September from Telstra's integrated agency offering +61.

Ferne Archer joins Trout Creative Thinking

Creative agency Trout Creative Thinking has named Ferne Archer group account director, working across a portfolio of clients, including Reece. Archer brings more than a decade of experience from agencies such as Special Group, AJF Partnership, TBWA, and CHE Proximity. Archer said Trout represents a unique opportunity to focus in on a sector, hone expertise and help businesses who are building the future. "I can’t wait to get stuck in," she said.

Hogarth's Jess Lake joins Genero

Australian marketing technology company Genero has named Jess Lake senior client director in AUNZ. Lake has previously worked at Network Ten as a business manager and at News Corp Australia as the head of network partnerships. Her most recent position was solution design director at Hogarth. Lake's hire follows the recent addition of Chris Dodson, who previously led marketing efforts at Google and YouTube, and Chloe Lane, who joined last year as MD of global client solutions.

Natalie Wolfe becomes editor of 7NEWS website

Natalie Wolfe, deputy editor of The West Australian newspaper based in Perth, is the new editor of 7NEWS.com.au. She will report to Seven Network director of news and current affairs and Seven West Media editor-in-chief, Anthony De Ceglie. Before The West Australian, Wolfe held a key senior editorial role for six years with News Corp Australia’s news.com.au. She also worked in London with News Corp’s national editorial team and was an assistant editor at Daily Mail Australia.

Sammy Preston appointed head of shopping at Are Media

Are Media has named Sammy Preston to the new role of head of shopping. Preston, reporting to Are Media director of content Sally Eagle from September 2, will be responsible for spearheading the development and execution of a data-driven shopping content strategy. Leading the shopping team and working alongside the vertical content teams, she will focus on creating and amplifying content across Are Media’s digital platforms, including websites, social media and email channels.
