SYDNEY: Yum! Restaurants has appointed MediaCom to its estimated $40m media account, replacing incumbent Carat after a protracted pitch, AdNews can reveal.
MediaCom now takes the reigns on the planning and buying account across Yum! brands including Pizza Hut and KFC as the company gears up to take on its main rival McDonald's.
The pitch kicked off in September 2009, and resulted in Carat initially being handed the entire Yum! Restaurants media planning and buying account after Bellamyhayden parted company with KFC after ten years.
Yum! works with Ogilvy & Mather on creative for KFC, while M&C Saatchi handles creative duties on Pizza Hut.
Calls to Yum! were not returned at the time of writing.
