Google is believed to be handing its premium video ad slots for Australian YouTube users in 2015 to media buyer GroupM, according to the Australian Finanical Review. The landmark deal is expected to be unveiled at Google's YouTube 'BrandCast' event in Sydney this week.

TV Networks to prepare Google 'counteroffensive'
US TV networks are preparing a counteroffensive on Google's YouTube, according to the AFR, backed by the expansion of the TV ratings systems into online video. Nielsen's global head of digital Megan Clarken said a shift would start next year, which will see US broadcasters stream their feeds, both live and on-demand, to mobile devices and will charge advertisers for the service.

Media students getting "anti-Murdoch" message

Media students are being taught that News Corp uses 'naked political pressure' to influence democracy in some of Australia's universities. As part of an undercover investigation, The Australian is reporting that the media courses at The Unviersity of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney are "indoctrinating not educating" students and leading a critical view of the news organisation.
