The Premier League season may have just concluded, but there's little respite for footballers in the media industry.
Media agencies, ad tech firms and publishers have been busy training for this year's Annual UnLtd Cup, which takes place at AppNexus stadium on the 22 June.
Champions GSA won't be defending their title this year but the team they beat, Fairfax, will be gunning for another title after winning the cup two years ago.
Other teams gunning for futsal glory include MediaBrands, RadiumOne, AppNexus, Acxiom, AOL Platforms, OMD/M2M, Yahoo!7, MCN, Carat, Red Planet, eBay, Pubmatic, Rubicon Project, Google and Val Morgan.
The event raises money for UnLtd beneficiary KidsXpress with each team $3,000. KidsXpress provides expressive therapy programs to children and each team's donation funds one child. This year the event raised $45,000, which will see 14 young people undertake an amazing journey in un-doing the damage caused through trauma, family loss and domestic violence.
“When we started the event in 2011 we weren’t sure how much support we could attract and it is amazing that six years on we continue to have teams and sponsors jumping on board and making this the magnificent event that it is,” UnLtd Cup founder Marc Barnett said.
“We have now raised $212,000, which has helped KidsXpress to significantly change the lives of over 75 young people forever.”
Post tournament drinks will be held across the road at The Australian.
