Forgive us if we sound like a broken record but My Kitchen Rules dominated the schedule last night, but the Leyland brothers can still pull a crowd.
The Channel Seven reality juggernaut put up 1.69 million viewers last night, according to the overnight metro OzTAM ratings, meaning it was the highest rating show by about 500,000 viewers.
However, one of the more surprising spots was the performance of Australian Story for the ABC, which brought in over one million viewers.
The show, this week focusing on the strained relationship between the famous Australian explorers, Mike and Mal Leyland, was part of a strong current affairs line-up which rocketed the ABC to a 21.3% share for the evening.
Meanwhile Nine's chief reality format, The Block, put up 755,000 viewers for the evening, and was beaten out by current affairs show Q&A.
Surprisingly, a powerful Four Corners only attracted 692,000. This could have been because of the off-putting subject matter of live-baiting in the greyhound racing industry, but timings for the ABC were partially off last night.
Ten's main reality hope, I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! had an average audience of 601,000 for the hour-and-a-half presentation.
Seven won the night with a 33.7% share, followed by Nine with 24 points.
The ABC leveraged its current affairs line-up to post a 21.3% share while Ten got a 16.6% audience.
