News Digital Media's transactional business Learning Seat has appointed general manager Tim Legge as chief executive, succeeding Michael Solomon.

Solomon previously held the CEO position as well as the role of executive director of emerging businesses. The promotion of Legge allows Solomon to concentrate more fully on News Digital Media's emerging businesses, including Getprice, News Ticketing (Moshtix and Foxtix) and Learning Seat.

Solomon will also take on responsibility for Sporting Pulse and Recruit Advantage.

Legge will continue to report to Solomon.

Solomon said: "For a while now, Tim has effectively been running Learning Seat. Under his leadership, the company has continued its rapid growth, attracting numerous new clients and growing revenue by 30 per cent.

"As my time is increasingly dedicated to growing News Digital Media's emerging businesses and transactional revenue streams, and integrating them into the wider News Limited family, it is right that Tim is officially recognised as Learning Seat's chief."

Learning seat is wholly owned by News Limited. The company is an online training and compliance organisation which has clients such as AFL and Heinz. It is based on a transactional revenue model.
