John Steedman has been appointed chief operating officer at WPP AUNZ, the local arm of the world's biggest advertising company.
The annual report of WPP AUNZ released this week confirmed a title change, saying Steedman had assumed "responsibilities of chief operating officer".
His email signature recently contained the title “executive chairman media investment management”.
But the 2019 annual report says: “John Steedman stepped in as interim CEO in October 2018 and operated in this capacity until Jens Monsees took up this position. Upon Jens Monsees' commencement in October 2019, John Steedman continued in his role as executive director and in addition, assumed responsibilities of chief operating officer."
And Steedman this week changed his LinkedIn profile to "COO/Board Director at WPP AUNZ".
Last year Steedman was inducted into the AdNews Advertising Hall of Fame. Inductees are chosen based on how they have influenced the direction of the advertising industry and helped put Australia on the world map through outstanding, innovative and original advertising.
Founded in 2009 with 12 incumbents, the AdNews Advertising Hall of Fame takes in a new inductee each year. The next will be announced at the AdNews Agency of the Year on April 1.
Steedman started his career as a dispatch boy at McCann Erickson Sydney aged 16.
