The Intermedia Group has been appointed to publish The Farmer, taking over from Medium Rare.
The first issue of the magazine to be printed by the Sydney-based publisher will cover its second anniversary. The title is produced on behalf of lobby group NSW Farmers.
“The Farmer has proven itself as a well-regarded publication for hard-to-reach individuals that produce a diverse range of food and fibre commodities and invest strongly in regional communities,” says Intermedia Group publisher James Wells.
“Its content appeals to farmers and regional businesses of all shapes and sizes, from corporate farms, family farms as well as small businesses and smaller lifestyle properties.”
Intermedia Group is currently looking for an editor for the magazine and has already appointed Ben Payne as sales director for The Farmer. Payne previously worked at Seven West Media as national Sydney sales director for metro and regional newspapers.
NSW Farmers CEO Pete Arkle says the title has quickly become perceived as a premium agriculture title in Australia.
“It is a publication that is read cover to cover,” Arkle says.
“A readership survey showed that three in four readers share their issue with family and friends and many copies have also been provided to local schools and rural Airbnbs.
“The Farmer has won numerous awards and also received international recognition. Politicians are taking notice too, with mentions in Question Time and in our meetings with ministers, helping to keep the values of agriculture front of mind.”
