Ikon Melbourne has grown its client roster, adding 'virtual agency' Skinner Advertising Services (SAS) to its business.

According to SAS, the business "pioneered" the virtual agency model over 25 years ago. Its client strategy involves outsourcing creative and media to "talented specialists".

The agency currently manages major brands including Carpet Call and entertainment company Feld Entertainment, which is known for its Disney On Ice productions, as well as the soon to be Marvel Live shows.

Ikon Melbourne’s remit includes all social media and content management for both Carpet Call and Feld Entertainment.

“I’ve enjoyed a longstanding business relationship with Andrew Skinner and am delighted Ikon will be working with his team to provide market-leading solutions that will help solve his client’s problems," Ikon Melbourne managing partner Mel Roberts says.

“Australians have always loved Disney on Ice and we are excited to be promoting its live shows to a whole new audience across Australia and NZ plus we have been working on the retail-focused strategy for Carpet Call since January, so we feel confident we are already starting to deliver results.”

The new deal follows the news by Ikon earlier this year that it would drop its previous branding and adopt a new look and strategy that emphasises its key offerings including, strategy, digital, technology, creative, social, channel planning and dynamic.

AdNews spoke with Ikon CEO Lesley Edwards earlier this year on the future of the full-service agency, with Edwards touting 2019 as the year the agency would prove its "formidable transformation" in market.

“We have always been about looking beyond the obvious and building a strategic positioning that is lasting for our clients. Ikon shares a similar philosophy and so it was a natural fit to add them to our team. We look forward to creating great results together for our clients," SAS MD Andrew Skinner says.
