A $10 million anti-drug campaign targeting schoolies thinking of experimenting with party drugs during end-of-year celebrations has launched.
The 15-second ads show ice addicts spiralling violently out of control, with scenes of teens smashing up their parent’s home. One of the ads features a mum whose son died after sneaking into a nightclub and taking party drugs.
The television and online blitz, launched by the federal government, kicks off just weeks before the start of schoolies week and encourages mums and dads to discuss drugs with their kids before they go, after it was found one in three teenagers ask their parents’ advice about drugs.
The campaign is part of the federal government's four-year $298 million national ice action strategy.
Back in 2015, the NSW government launched a highly controversial anti-weed campaign featuring the infamous Stoner Sloth, which was quickly turned into a meme and slammed as "hopelessly bad".
