Hubbl, Foxtel's solution to app hopping, bringing a myriad of streaming content services into one place, is finally here.
The device, which plugs into any compatible TV, will be available in Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi retail stores and via Hubbl.com.au for $99.
Hubbl fuses local and global content including premium entertainment and sports, video on demand (VOD), live channels and the internet into a single user interface.
One universal remote with voice control can access apps or channels, search for content, control playback or change settings. The remote also comes with buttons to navigate to Kayo Sports, BINGE and Netflix.
They will be joining Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube as app partners at launch.
Hubbl is a key platform for Foxtel's switch to streaming serves from cable. Streaming represented about 29% of total circulation and subscription revenue in the December quarter, up from 26%.
As of December, Foxtel’s total paid subscribers were more than 4.3 million, flat compared to the prior year.
Growth in streaming subscribers was driven by Kayo and BINGE was offset by fewer residential broadcast subscribers.
Les Wigan, MD of Hubbl, says Hubbl stands out from the pack by offering live TV without an aerial, seamless subscription management at the touch of a button, more discoverability and personalisation as well as five eligible streaming apps, saving up to $15 per month on subscriptions.
"With the major free and paid apps available on Hubbl and more to come, there is nothing like the world of entertainment it unlocks," says Wigan.
A TV package, Hubbl Glass, is also available with 4K Ultra display with 8.2 million pixels and six speakers built-in for surround sound. The 55” will be available at $1,595 and the 65” $1,995.
