Former ARN commercial director Mason Rook has been appointed as The Guardian Australia’s commercial sales director.
Rook exited the radio network during a wave of redundancies at HT&E, parent company of ARN, in January this year.
In his new role at The Guardian Australia, Rook oversees the advertising and branded content sales team across Australia and New Zealand.
“I’m really excited to be joining The Guardian at a time where demand for quality news content and journalism is of great value not only to our readers but also our advertisers,” Rook says.
“The opportunity to lead the commercial team, work with the best talent and develop the way in which we take this incredible offering to market really appealed to me.”
Rook, who has also worked at Daily Mail, Nine and Seven, reports to the publisher’s MD Dan Stinton.
His appointment comes as The Guardian Australia looks to expand its team locally, advertising 11 roles this week, eight of which are editorial.
“Rook has an impressive track record leading strong teams to deliver meaningful revenue growth,” Stinton says.
“His role will be critical to The Guardian Australia - one that ensures we are best placed to continue building upon the advertising success we have enjoyed over the last six years.”
