Socially-led creative agency We Are Social has been appointed as eBay Australia’s social and influencer marketing agency of record following a competitive pitch.

The partnership will see We Are Social working closely with the online marketplace to elevate the brand’s social presence across TikTok and Instagram, as well as in partnership with local creators, continuing to build audience, drive community engagement and activate retail moments across categories including pre-loved fashion, trading cards and car parts and accessories.

As part of the remit, We Are Social will also be reviewing eBay’s organic social and influencer strategy to align with its brand platform Everyone Has a Thing and strengthen its social presence.

We Are Social Australia CEO Suzie Shaw said the agency is excited to join  forces with a community-driven brand like eBay, bringing 15 years of social, influencer and culture-first expertise to the company's wonderful agency village.

"When we started working on the pitch, we came across a great quote that said, ‘If it’s trending in Australia, it’s trending on eBay’ which is so true and presents a really great role for social to play," she said.

eBay Australia head of campaigns and comms Zannie Abbott said the partnership aims to strengthen the business’ connection with buyers.

"Partnering with We Are Social marks an exciting new chapter for eBay Australia as we look to deepen our connection with our enthusiast buyers through innovative and engaging organic social content," she said.

"With 25 years in Australia and millions of Aussies using eBay every month, our brand is truly ingrained in pop culture. We Are Social’s expertise in social and influencer marketing aligns perfectly with our vision to not only stay at the forefront of trends but to actively shape them."
