DDB Sydney has been added to the evolving Foxtel roster to lead its brand and retail work, AdNews can reveal.

It comes just months after Foxtel's last creative shake-up that saw its lead agency, TBWA Sydney, resign the account and make way for Marcel. With Collective landed a spot on the roster in 2017.

Speaking to AdNews, newly appointed CMO Andy Lark said he’s excited about the opportunity for all of its agency partners, including DDB, With Collective, Marcel and Mindshare, to lead the evolution of the Australian brand.

“DDB has come on board to lead the next wave of retail and brand work for Foxtel. We were impressed with a number of agencies during the pitch process, some of who we also intend to work with,” he said.

“We are a big brand pursuing a significant agenda. Mindshare, With Collective and Marcel continue to serve us well in various capacities and will be complemented by DDB's clear strengths. We are excited about the opportunity all of our partners can plan in the evolution of the Foxtel brand and introducing even more Australians to the ultimate entertainment destination and new home of cricket.”

The agency shakeup follows the appointment of Lark earlier this year, after Mark Buckman left.

Under Buckman, Foxtel handed creative duties for both the Foxtel brand and Fox Sports to TBWA Sydney after a competitive pitch against Clemenger BBDO Melbourne in 2016.

This marked the first time that creative for Foxtel and Fox Sports had been handled by one agency.

During TBWA's time on the roster it overhauled the Foxtel brand and launched Foxtel Now. It also tapped Chris Hemsworth for a series of ads in 2016.
