Industry figures are leading the way in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, many of them announcing the occasion of double vax via social media. AdNews asked them about their motivation and experiences.
Matt Lawton, managing director, Five by Five Global:
I’m stuck in QLD for the moment to ensure I can see my kids, but with my whole team in Sydney doing it tough. I had my AZ jab a few weeks ago on the basis that I foresee cross border travel being an issue for anyone who is not vaccinated.
QLD has been slow to push the vaccination message because the impetus is applied only when there’s an outbreak. So I expect the border to be closed until the end of this year.
To my mind, vaccination campaigns have failed because they haven’t linked the action to the motivation.
Last year Australia did a good job of positioning social distancing and mask wearing as a selfless act to keep the vulnerable safe. But vaccinations is a more personal thing so approaching it the same way doesn’t work.
