Brand and advertising figures Danish Chan, James Needham, Jamal Cassim and Matt Rose have launched a new type of strategy consultancy, Untangld.

The founders, who have all held leadership roles in some of the world’s most successful agencies, have now opened the strategy shop which aims to take the science big brands use to give businesses big and small practical ways to win.

Along with the consultancy, Untangld offers products designed to enable client organisations to do more research and strategy themselves.

“What’s exciting about the untangld model is that we’ve already been able to create research products we know strategists find useful," says co-founder James Needham, who was responsible for growing the strategy and research division at CHE Proximity.

"Twenty-four hour national polls and self-service research products that you don’t need big budgets or years of research experience to use."

Chan, one of the most awarded strategists in the world, says Untangld is different from other consultancies out in the market.

“We started Untangld to help businesses navigate their most defining moments. Whether that’s scale-ups looking to grow rapidly or big brands looking to re-position," Chan says.

"But unlike other consultancies, we offer businesses a range of capability building tools so they rely on consultancies for less.

"Today, every business finds themselves in a defining moment and they don’t have the time and budgets to spend on the big agencies or consultancies, but still need world-class help to grow in this uncertainty."

Cassim, previously the managing partner at Dare in the UK, has worked across a range of businesses in Europe and Australia including Nike, BMW, the BBC, AGL and Microsoft.

"Untangld comes at a time when brands are having to make tough decisions about their future. We know that consumers still want to hear from businesses during this time and we’re brilliantly poised to help them pause, take stock and transform for the better," Cassim says.

“We’re excited to bring our no-bullshit model to those who want an alternative to the big players, but genuinely want to see value for their money and provide tangible benefits to businesses at this challenging time, future-proofing them for success.”

Untangld launches with founding clients across Australia and the US.
