John Bevins is the latest inductee into the AdNews Advertising Hall of Fame. The announcement was made this evening in front of a capacity crowd of 650 at the AdNews Agency of the Year Awards in Sydney.

After stints at McCann-Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather, Bevins founded his own agency, John Bevins Pty Ltd, in 1982. It rapidly rose to prominence with world-leading road safety and anti-smoking campaigns. It remained independent until 2009 when he chose to close it down rather than sell out.

John Bevins was the driving force behind the AFA Code of Ethics and is widely regarded as the man who has done the most to give advertising a conscience.
