A week after closing one health title, Bauer looks to be prepping the launch of a another under its Cleo brand.
Cleo Australia yesterday posted an image to its Instagram account of model Jacinta Campbell with the caption, “Working it on set for an exciting new mag for Cleo Australia we have in the works.”
This post comes just 6 days after the publisher announced the closure of its popular health title Women's Fitness, citing having to pay a licensing fee out of the UK for the title, reduced advertising spend and increasing costs for making the title commercially unviable.
Cleo editor Lucy Cousins, was formerly the deputy editor of Women's Fitness before moving to Cleo in November.
In a statement released at the time of the closure Matthew Stanton, CEO of Bauer Media said: “Health and fitness are important pillars across our Bauer Media magazine brands and we will continue to produce excellent content in this space for relevant titles, as well as our current digital assets and new multi-platform initiatives to be rolled out in the near future.”
At the time of the announcement about Women's Fitness, there was speculation surrounding a bolstering of the health content in Cleo to serve the magazine's young female demographic.
A Bauer spokesperson declined to comment on the potential launch today, but hinted at the fact that the Cleo would have a greater fitness offering in the coming months due to the increasing appetite of readers for the content.
