Amazon is reportedly in talks to purchase Sizmek’s Ad Server as the adtech business sells off its assets after filing for bankruptcy.

In April the independent buy-side platform Sizmek filed for voluntary bankruptcy in the US and has since been selling of parts of its business.

Zeta Global has already completed the purchase of Sizmek’s demand-side marketing platform for $40 million.

While the news hit offices in the UK and US, the Australian office is yet to confirm how it would be impacted in the long-term.

Amazon’s acquisition of Sizmek’s Ad Server would help boost the ecommerce site’s ambition to grow as an advertising business and help it take on the likes of Google.

Bloomberg, quoting two sources, says the purchase could be announced as soon as this week.

"The deal hasn’t been finalised, said the people, who asked not to be named because discussions are still in progress," reports Bloomberg.
