Advertising revenue at giant online retailer Amazon jumped 25% to $US7.877 billion for the March quarter.

The increasingly important revenue stream includes sales of advertising services to sellers, vendors, publishers, authors, and others, through programs such as sponsored ads, display, and video advertising.

The company’s overall net sales increased 7% to $US116.4 billion.

“The pandemic and subsequent war in Ukraine have brought unusual growth and challenges,” says Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO.

He noted “ongoing inflationary and supply chain pressures”.

Amazon forecasts net sales between $116 billion and $121 billion, or to grow between 3% and 7%, in the June quarter.
