Brisbane Station 4BC has confirmed its new radio line-up, in the wake of several redundancies of local presenters.
As result of Fairfax Radio Network's merger with Macquarie Radio Network, several staff have been made redundant including breakfast team Ian Skippen and Loretta Ryan and mornings presenter Patrick Condren. The Brisbane Times is reporting a total of 18 confirmed job losses at the station.
The station has confirmed its new radio line-up will consist of a number of Sydney-based shows from former MRN station 2GB being networked to Brisbane, with weekday breakfast to be hosted by Alan Jones and mornings to be hosted by Ray Hadley.
In addition, 2GB's Money News with Ross Greenwood will be added to the line-up on 4BC, from 6pm to 8pm, as well as the NRL 'Continuous Call Team' which will continue across Friday nights and weekends during the football season.
4BC chief operating officer Adam Lang said the new line-up is part of the merged entity's vision to “build Australia's number one information and entertainment radio network”.
The station's afternoon program is hosted by local talent Clare Blake and drive will continue to be hosted by Ben Davis.
“We are excited to bring some of the country’s best radio talent to 4BC listeners in Brisbane, with their unique form of talkback,” Lang said.
“Alan, Ray and Ross bring a wealth of experience to 4BC that I’m sure our listeners will enjoy. 4BC listeners will be able to join in talkback conversations with the new presenters to discuss the news and issues affecting Queensland.”
The changes are effective from 27 April.
The news follows four confirmed redundancies at the merged entity's Magic 1278 station with breakfast co-host Kevin John, and weekday and evening presenters Peter O'Callaghan, Ric Ditchburn and Peter Van would be leaving the station, along with one other staff member.
Lang said as a result of the redundancies a new on-air line-up would be announced shortly, and that it does not anticipate any further changes subsequent to that.
“We are determined to build a stronger national radio network with our music stations, and the leading news, talk and sports stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth,” Lang said.
