Spot your favourite athlete in Visa's fun campaign.
Visa has launched what it describes as "the most ambitious integrated Olympic Games campaign" in the company's history.
The spot is based on a carpool sequence that features a host of Olympic stars and Visa ambassadors to the music of Edwin Starr's 25 Miles.
The film follows athletes as they join a fun carpool to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, using various payment innovations to make purchases along the route, such as Visa Checkout, Samsung Pay and chip cards, and others.
Visa says the campaign features more athletes, ways to pay, geographies and marketing channels than any other campaign in the 30 years of Olympic sponsorship.
"Our Olympic ‘Carpool’ campaign reflects the broader aspects of acceptance, demonstrating Visa’s support and celebration of athletes across cultures, geographies and sports," Visa chief marketing and communications officer Lynne Biggar said.
The scenes were shot in the US, Brazil and Japan are features inputs from Africa, Australia, Canada, Central Europe, Latin America, Mexico, Middle East and New Zealand.
Region-specific carpool sequences will be aired across the world, with this spot led by New Zealand shot put queen Valerie Adams.
In Australia, the campaign will be digitally-led to connect with millennials, as Visa anticipates many of the events will be viewed digitally.
The only Aussie reference AdNews can spot is the back of Sally Pearson, which is hopefully all her opponents will get to see of her as she defends her 100m hurdles gold.
