EXCLUSIVE: The much-anticipated Victorian Government media review has been postponed, with incumbents Mitchell & Partners and ZenithOptimedia having their contracts extended.
Both agencies have had their contracts on the $90 million account extended for six months, until the end of February 2012.
A spokeswoman for the Victorian Government confirmed the two contracts had been extended, but refused to be drawn on details of the review. AdNews revealed in March that media agencies were gearing up for a major stoush, as the two media contracts edged closer to expiration.
One media agency executive told AdNews: “We were all looking forward to that one. It’s a shame, because I know a lot of agencies that wanted to sink their teeth into that piece of business. It’s one of the biggest accounts in the country.”
Mitchell & Partners handles the lion’s share of the account, holding the advertising services contract. ZenithOptimedia handles recruitment services. Mitchell & Partners won the main account in 2006 from incumbent ZenithOptimedia, while ZenithOptimedia won the recruitment account from HMA Blaze.
