Ikon's social media director Oliver Wilton has left to join Twitter, which last week opened its Sydney office.
Wilton had been at the agency for two and a half years. First as social media manager and then as director.
Ikon has not directly replaced Wilton at director level as the company is merging its social team with the programmatic buying team.
Twitter is now staffing up. As well as Melbourne representation, the firm has six people operating out of the Sydney office and seeks more as it touts its products to agencies and brands.
Twitter's Amplify product is now available in Australia. However, no deals with broadcasters have been struck.
The company will aim to create similar revenue sharing deals with broadcasters and advertisers by embedding video clips into tweets that also contain a sponsored message in a three-way revenue share.
That will require partners to implement requisite infrastructure and it is likely that Twitter will first work on expanding its promoted Tweets, trends and accounts business.
