Strong performances by The Block: Fans versus Faves and Love Child set Nine up for its first Monday night victory over Seven in four weeks.

Seven's My Kitchen Rules was the most-watched free-to-air show across Australia's five metro areas last night, with 1.659 million viewers.

But The Block: Fans versus Faves came a close second, with an audience of 1.554 million, and Love Child followed with 1.289 million, according to preliminary overnight ratings figures from OzTam.

Seven's Revenge once again just missed out on a spot in the top 10, in 11th place with 854,000 viewers.

Seven and Nine dominated the top 10, with just ABC News making it in for any other network. Ten's most-watched program was Eyewitness News, with 661,000 viewers.

Other than Seven's Home and Away, in ninth spot with 1.006 million viewers, news and current affairs shows made up the rest of the top 10.

Nine News was fourth (1.220 million), Nine News at 6.30 was fifth (1.167 million), Seven News was sixth (1.150 million), Nine's A Current Affair was seventh (1.063 million) and Seven's Today Tonight was eighth (1.061 million).
