Creative agencies Jack Watts Currie and Draftfcb go head to head on The Pitch on the ABC show.
Lend Lease appoints M&C Saatchi
Lend Lease has appointed M&C Saatchi to its consumer creative advertising business after a pitch. The Lend Lease business is split into retail and consumer property. The retail half of the business is handled by Sydney agency Bashful, which picked up the business last year.
Match Media wins Mind Candy
UK social multiplayer game developer Mind Candy has appointed Match Media to handle its media planning and buying. The appointment came without a pitch, following a recommendation from another Match Media UK client Bethesda. Match Media has been tasked with handling buying and planning for online game Moshi Monsters.
April5 gets Enterprise Connect grant
Independent marketing agency April5 has accessed the matched $20,000 Enterprise Grant for innovation. The Australian Government initiatvie provides business with consulting expertise and tools to help improve productivity. April5 will use the grant to service existing clients while increasing its partner base.
Kleenex sponsors children's book
Kimberly-Clark's Kleenex Mums brand has sponsored Tears in the Jungle, a children's book which focuses on the endangered orangutan. The sponsorship ties in with the brands recent campaign "When nature calls", which focuses on the plight of the orangutan.
Cadreon launches video advertising solution
Interpublic's online-performance business Cadreon Australia has launched a video ad network platform, which is supported by video demand-side-platforms Adap.tv and Tubemogul. The new platform is called Cadreon Video Marketplace.
Adshel Clarification
Adshel has stated that its national strategic manager Sandra Claux left the company in September, before the chief executive Steve McCarthy in mid-October, contray to what AdNews reported on 3 November, 2011 on page 4. AdShel's marketing director for Australia and New Zealand, Elvira Lodewick, said the company's new chief executive Rob Atkinson will make decisions about the structure of the marketing department, not the structure of the company.
Nine writes down value of ACP magazines
Nine Entertainment Co. has had to write down the value of ACP magazines, warning that it may have to sell assets due to the strain of a $3.6 billion debt. Nine Entertainment Co. owns the east coast Nine Network television stations, Ticketek and stakes in Sky News, Cudo and ninemsn. This news comes as Rupert Murdoch's nephew Matt Hanbury expressed interest in purchasing ACP magazines.
Visit California offers $100 pre paid Visa card to graduates
Visit California has launched an incentive to Australian and New Zealand travel agents to compete its online travel training program 'California Expert'. The incentive is that all graduating agents who successfully complete the training program will be entered into a draw to win one of 20 $100 prepaid Visa cards to use for a culinary activity of their choosing. ‘California Expert’ is a learning tool for travel agents, which assists them to sell California to consumers.

Run Melbourne has appointed Fairfax publication The Age as the new naming rights partner for the 2012 Run Melbourne. Run Melbourne is a community fitness fund-raising event in Victoria.
Firms prefer Facebook over Twitter
According to the 2011 state of digital marketing report, twice as many firms have closed deals on Facebook compared to Twitter and 47% have generated leads from Facebook compared to 34% on Twitter. The information shows that marketers are keen to learn more about social media.
VIDM hires two
Ventures in Digital Media (VIDM) and Emerge Digital has appointed Yahoo!7 head of publisher partnerships Angus McDonald as director, business development. McDonald will oversee the launch and establishment of Emerge, a sell-side platform. The company has also recruited Fairfax technology director Neil Wilkinson as director, innovation and technology.
