MediaCom has held onto the $73 million Queensland Government master media-buying contract, after the partnership was extended for another two years.

MediaCom retained the business in 2008 in a competitive pitch, which saw the agency win a three-year contract, with a possible extension of two years. The agency was already the three-year incumbent on the account.

By extending the contract, the Queensland Government has removed the possibility of an account review.

MediaCom Brisbane managing director Nicole Boyd said: “We are excited to have our relationship with Queensland Government extended. We have enjoyed a long standing relationship with the government and remain passionate about working alongside them in delivering effective and efficient communication solutions.”

MediaCom Australasia chief executive Toby Jenner said: “To have our contract extended by a further two years gives you a sense of just how well Nicole and her team are performing on behalf of the Queensland Government. Retaining clients is fundamental to our success, this is a great endorsement, and we’re delighted.”

At the onset of 2010, the Queensland Government put together a creative roster of agencies, including SapientNitro, George Patterson Y&R, BCM, Engine Group, Red Suit, Fresh Advertising Communications, Dick Grantley and Carbon Media.

The Queensland Government's estimated main media spend in the 12 months to June 2011 was $73.1 million, up from $50 million in the prior period, according to Nielsen.
