Hamish & Andy's Asia Gap Year drew in 1.56m on its debut.

That larrikin duo, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, returned to our screens last night and today Nine is revelling in their pull of 1.56 million viewers.

The latest incarnation of Hamish & Andy's Gap Year saw the pair unleashed on the unsuspecting citizens of Asia. It was the most watched program last night with 1.56 million metro viewers, according to overnight figures from OzTam.

The comedy partners have been a consistent drawcard for Nine. Last year, Hamish & Andy's Euro Gap Year debuted to 1.41 million while their Caravan of Courage series attracted 1.33 million for its first episode in November.

Ten's new crime reality series, Wanted, premiered to 632,000 viewers. While not spectacular, the numbers are an improvement on the timeslot for Ten. The network's head of corporate and public communications, Neil Shoebridge, said: “We are very happy with how Wanted performed last night. It produced a significant lift in our audience in its timeslot, it beat our internal forecasts, and we are confident it will be a long-term build. We are not betting the farm on Wanted; it is part of a deliberate, considered strategy to improve our performance across all nights.”

MasterChef had a better night with 737,000 viewers.

Elsewhere, Nine's The Block took second position with 1.48 million viewers.

On the imported dramas front, Seven's Red Widow lost more than half its audience since last week, dropping to 428,000 viewers from 901,000 seven days ago. Criminal Minds, also on Seven was watched by 673,000 while Ten's The Americans drew in 252,000 people.

Across the main channels, Nine won the night with 27% of audience share, followed by Seven with 18.2%, the ABC with 16.4%, Ten with 11.8% and SBS had 3.4%.
