The fourth series of The Gruen Transfer will launch on 3 August during ABC1's 9pm slot ahead of a sister program, Gruen Planet.
The show's producers were tight-lipped about Gruen Planet, but the show will look at weekly news through spin, branding and image control. It is expected to take on a similar format to the four-part series, Gruen Nation, and will air later this year.
This year, The Gruen Transfer, which is a co-production between the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Andrew Denton and Anita Jacoby's Zapruder’s other Films, will explore campaigns across mining, banks, tobacco, gambling and Vodafail.
Comedian Wil Anderson will return as host, together with panellists, Leo Burnett Sydney chief executive officer Todd Sampson and Y&R Brands Australia CEO Russel Howcroft.
Other returning panellists include Smart creative director Dan Gregory, Socket creative director Dee Madigan, BMF CEO Jeremy Nicholas, ex-BBDO Singapore creative director Singapore Bridget Taylor, freelance copywriter and author Jane Caro, former Euro RSCG creative director Rowan Dean and Moon Communications Group strategic planning director Carolyn Miller.
The show's regular segment, The Pitch, in which two agencies compete to sell something unlikely and obscure, will also remain.
Last year The Gruen Transfer averaged 1.4 million viewers on ABC1 each week. The Gruen Nation was the ABC’s highest rating show of the year, averaging more than 1.6 million viewers for each of its four outings.
The Gruen Transfer was co-created by Andrew Denton and Jon Casimir. It is produced by Jon Casimir.
