Retailer Target has landed British fashion stylist and television presenter Gok Wan as its new brand ambassador, and unveiled a new tagline, as part of a broader attempt to revitalise the brand.
Wan, best known for his show How to Look Good Naked and most recently, work with Westfield, will appear in a 12-month campaign for Target from Wednesday 10 July. It will be led by a series of TV commercials dishing out advice on how to dress in a fresh and classy way for the workplace, according to the retail chain. It will then extend throughout menswear, childrenswear and homewares, among others.
Selected pieces from the commercials will also be promoted in-store across the country with labels saying "Gok Loves".
Target has also ditched its "100% Happy" tagline in favour of "Get More, Pay Less" in an attempt to emphasise its low prices. "Our new tagline – and our new ambassador – are both steps on our journey to reinvigorate Target and once again make it a great place to shop," said Target Australia managing director Stuart Machin.
“I think Gok represents everything we want Target to be – fun, modern, stylish, with something for everyone.”
"Our customers have told us that they love Target, but they want more from us. They want more style, more quality, more excitement in-store - and they expect to pay less."
