Former McCann Worldgroup boss Chris Mort has joined media agency TMS as chief executive.
Mort has been recruited to head up the independent media agency, while TMS founder and majority shareholder Warren Hill will continue to be involved.
Managing director Andrew Lamb and chief operating officer Marg Cooney will stay in the current roles. Insights director Peter Musgrove, one of TMS' original team members, will retire.
Mort was previously chief executive of McCann Worldgroup prior to the merger of McCann and independent creative agency Smart. The reverse takeover saw the Smart management team take the reins at McCann.
Former McCann Melbourne managing director James Graham resurfaced at Marmalade two weeks ago.
Hill said: “Every business needs to be refreshed from time to time and I believe now is a great time for TMS to go forward under a new CEO. I've known Chris for over 30 years and his track record speaks for itself – his integrity, talent and leadership skills are the exact credentials needed to take TMS to the next level.”
Mort said: “I see this as a tremendous opportunity to work with Andrew and his very talented team in developing TMS into an even stronger agency.”
Lamb said: “The opportunity to work alongside someone with Chris' credentials doesn't come along everyday, so naturally I am buoyed by the appointment. Together we will develop the next chapter while further cementing TMS as Australia's largest independent media agency.”
TMS' most high profile client is Toyota.
