EXCLUSIVE: Former Clemenger BBDO Melbourne board director Tim McColl Jones has set up his own advisory service after leaving the agency.
The well-regarded McColl Jones left Clemenger almost two months ago and has established McColl Jones + Co. He has already nabbed clients in the tourism and financial services fields but declined to name them.
McColl Jones had worked at Clemenger for two-and-a-half years across clients including NAB and Tourism Victoria. He has extensive experience in tourism, having been across Tourism Victoria during his 12 years at Publicis Mojo as regional partner and across Tourism Australia while regional director at M&C Saatchi.
He told AdNews he was excited about breaking free and doing his own thing, and is enjoying the ability to “develop a point of view that isn't reliant on an output”. And, it's something clients are responding to.
“I think in the market and the world – and not just in advertising – clients' businesses are changing quicker than many industries are capable of keeping up with. I think offering something that is fleet of foot and independent is very attractive to a lot of companies,” he said.
McColl Jones is offering strategic guidance, namely, aiding clients in aligning business purpose with marketing and culture. “That's the holy grail, when marketing and culture reflect and amplify business strategy,” he added.
McColl Jones said adland is morphing into a scenario where there are fewer big buys at one end and a cosmopolitan of many resources at the other.
