Former Fairfax sales honchos Ed Harrison and Paul Sigaloff have their feet under the table at Yahoo!7. Commercial director Sigaloff started last week, CEO Harrison officially starts today.
Yahoo!7 raided Fairfax in December for its former group sales director of the Australian Publishing Media unit, announcing the following day that Harrison's number two, general manager of digital and national sales Paul Sigaloff, would be joining him.
At the time Seven chief revenue officer Kurt Burnette claimed it was a coincidence that Seven had raided Fairfax for the pair. "Ed and Paul in a very separate process were the two best candidates for the respective roles that fit our needs and culture," he said. "It just so happened that they ended up being from the same organisation."
However, he admitted that acquiring an "established and successful team is an added and powerful bonus".
A spokesman for Yahoo!7 said he "can confirm that Ed Harrison has commenced as CEO. We are delighted to have Ed join as a key member of the team and look forward to working with him in his new role."
Fairfax was unable to shed any light on how close it was to hiring their successors.
