SYDNEY: Toshiba has appointed Clemenger BBDO Sydney as its creative agency to handle its notebook business in Australia and New Zealand and audio visual business in Australia.
As revealed by AdNews [29 January, page 5], the account was put out to pitch following the closure of incumbent John Bevins in December 2009. The agency will begin work on Toshiba immediatley after winning the creative pitch against DDB, The Foundry, Brave Communications and 303.
Toshiba marketing communications manager Mariana Thomas said: "Clemenger BBDO Sydney showed a strong flair for developing a fresh approach to our advertising strategy. Both its strategic approach and its creative proved its great understanding of our market and our brand."
"The team dynamic was a sound cultural fit with our business and they demonstrated a deep experience in conceptualising, developing and executing a broad range of consumer campaigns," she said.
Clemenger BBDO Sydney managing director Andy Pontin: "There's a real opportunity to get the brand due recognition for the quality of its products. It is pretty much number one in the notebook space."
