SYDNEY: Australian Internet users are some of the worldÕs most reluctant when it comes to buying online, according to the 1999-2000 E-commerce Survey from research firm, IMR.IMRÕs figures show 51% of Australians simply donÕt know the options available to them for secure online buying. ÒItÕs a problem of perception, not security,Ó said IMR general manager, Ian Lowe. ÒAgencies and clients must tell their customers very clearly, through offline and online media, that their e-commerce is secure.ÓOne online community that has largely overcome its security fears is visitors to finance and business sites, said Lowe. ÒMany of these users have already built up a comfort zone from doing their banking or trading shares online.ÓRob Burgess
