OMA, Comms Council hunt for CEOs

SYDNEY: Industry bodies the Outdoor Media Association (OMA) and The Communications Council are on the hunt for chief executive officers.

The OMA is seeking to fill the role left by Helen Wiloughby, who has resigned to take up a position with the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) in Canberra.

OMA chairman Steve McCarthy said the board was already talking to some potential candidates.

“We are seeking someone with strong management and leadership skills, as well as a sound knowledge of media, research and marketing, and ideally some experience in government relations.

“This is a pivotal role for the outdoor media industry, and an exciting opportunity for the right person to lead a dynamic team.”

Meanwhile, The Communications Council, formed in November by the Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA), The Australian Writers and Art Directors organisation (AWARD) and the Account Planning Group (APG), will advertise for a CEO shortly.

A final decision is expected by the end of February, with the search being conducted by Neil Ross of NKR Consulting.

The current executive director of the AFA, Mark Champion will take over the role of acting Comms Council CEO when the organisation begins trading on 1 January and has been invited to apply for the role.
