MELBOURNE: Emirates Airline has re-signed its multi-million dollar sponsorship contract with Collingwood Football club for a further five years.

Emirates is a heavy supporter of sporting events - in Australia it also sponsors the Victorian Racing Club’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, the Australian Jockey Club’s Autumn and Spring Racing Carnivals Melbourne, the Gold Coast Turf Club and the Sydney, Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras.

Internationally, Emirates will sponsor the 2006 FIFA World Cup alongside existing commitments with Arsenal Football Club, the Dubai World Cup, and Emirates Team New Zealand in the America’s Cup.

“Australia is an important and growing market for Emirates and the [Collingwood] partnership is invaluable in maintaining an affinity with the Australian public," said area manager for Australia Eddie Lim.

“We believe sponsorship is one of the best ways of getting closer to our customers. It allows us to share and support their interests and to build a personal relationship with them. Our partnership with Collingwood and the subsequent association with the AFL is an excellent vehicle for this to naturally occur.”

Collingwood players will continue to display the Emirates logo on training gear and official on-field apparel and the airline receives advertising signage at all home games as well as online promotional activities.

Emirates Airline became the club’s premier sponsorship partner in 1999, the same year that it launched its services in Australia.
